about

"They say I create my own reality but if that's the case I've done created some bullshit, I gotta get my mind straight..."

Vik shares a pure moment of self reflection. 'Facts of Life' is filled with feelings of angst and hope. We're transported into the mind of a person struggling with his own vices and societal pressures.

One evening during a spontaneous vestige of clarity Vik laid down 90% of the tape. Through a four month bout of recklessness he broke away from his usual habit of getting turnt up off some beers. He instead grabbed some records, a mic, a recorder and his 404; laying down his raw emotions in an equally raw analogue way.

The tape is bookended with musings from his Comfy God persona, inviting the listener into his stream of bi-polar frustrations. He opens with a warped conception of his usual drunken emotional state. And his signature subconscious raps are snapshots into the ups and downs of his aggressions and motivations.

The rest of the tape is a more typical Trash//Supply affair where the mood is dictated through his beat production. The vocal samples from which Vik has drawn are very much mantras that uncover his varying emotions.

The tape is pure, vulnerable and conceptual. Comfy God concludes facing the same dilemmas he initially began with. What changes is his outlook, which feels more hopeful and accepting. The whole project embodies the catharsis of Vik's creative process.

In an age where contemporary hip-hop often embraces times of recklessness, Vik manages to paint a more introspective and honest representation of those more withdrawn moments in life.
